Hi Everyone……just keeping in touch.
Well nothing has changed since mid December no work in at present it has gone very quite indeed, even to the point I phoned Yell about my 1st years advertisment placed complaining about the aborted money I have spent with no recommendation from them……..then funny enough I get 2 calls from Birmingham enquiring about do i do work on the Isle of Lewis!!!! which led nowhere.
Plus, I am now under the Physiotheropy at the hospital, as I heard my shoulder make a sharp snapping noise as the drill kicked back and twisted my arm in December, so after the X-Rays and some weeks of physio they think I have a frozen shoulder (whatever that is) all I can tell you its very painful even with the pain killers taken.
So all in all we are doing great LOL, thank goodness Sarah is busy with her Card business which is keeping us afloat, and she quite likes the idea of her new House Husband, and new baked cakes being produced nearly daily as the chickens are laying again. It must be bad as its my Birthday in March 52 this year, and I have asked for a new Mixer, chopper, blender thingy.
Cooking is not new to me as I used to own a Restaurant in 1984, so its quite nice getting back to cooking once again.
Hope you are all well………..Fred

Soapladyon 22 Feb 2009 at 11:38 pm 1A man of many talents obviously :- )
but women always moan if you buy them something for the kitchen …
why are men happy with that … :- )
Baking cakes I love to do too … But don’t do it so often as if I bake it I usually have to eat it all … :- )
Nothing quite like a house that smells of fresh baking though …
mjcon 23 Feb 2009 at 12:23 am 2Do you mean you have a rotator cuff problem, Fred? You can’t swing your arm round and round?
mirlnlasson 23 Feb 2009 at 12:23 am 3Love the smell of baking. I keep meaning to start baking here again now that I don’t have the blasted fan assisted oven to deal with.
Hope that your shoulder get better quickly. I had a frozen shoulder as a teenager I know the pain.
mjcon 23 Feb 2009 at 12:30 am 4Eh, Fred, coq au vin is easy to do. So is boeuf Bourguignon: see whether you can rustle a neighbor’s calf if you don’t wish to sacrifice one of your cockerels. I assume you are good with a lasso (shucks, mate, you have one good arm left and so bringing in a calf should be no problem). And if the bobby asks you what you are doing, simply answer that you were merely removing a public danger from a heavily used road/path. Mention my name also (that should settle it).
roysofalaozon 23 Feb 2009 at 6:18 am 5Hi Fred.
useless input, know well breaking a 10inch, by 1/2 inch bit,was luck, just a sore wrist for a few weeks. The doom and gloom is starting to enbed itself this side. The veg patch is all important and what you cannot use can keep you going through winter. By the way I gave up blaching years ago, just cut up and into the freezer, comes out without any problem on the plate. But then you have been in the kitchen, of and on for some time,. Regards.
Jillon 23 Feb 2009 at 9:22 am 6Hey, Fred, great to hear from you again. Business will surely pick up again as the weather improves and people go outside again. A house husband sounds like a great thing, you could add that to your list of services provided (”Will bring own mixer thingy”). You have certainly had a varied career, Fred. How about offering catering services? Good luck!
Fredblog51on 23 Feb 2009 at 9:47 am 7hi Linda, Well the cakes do not get left here for to long lol, I like cooking more main dishes and savories…….Years ago I made a cake and it came out like a frisby
So to date Ive made sausage rolls with puff pastsy or is the roll & sausage? Victoria sponge, Bread & butter pudding, Bread pudding, Potato rosti’s, and a great marinade for chicken kebabs……AND no MJC not my chickens but never say never. Oh Spare ribs are next on the menu, or maybe a glazed chicken!!
MJC, yeah my kind of cooking nice warming feel good food, I just need the processor for fresh coleslaw, and chessy coleslaw at Holly’s request and just slicing dicing really but its a great little machine, well it will be when i get it not to long now B/Day 3rd March…….It’s more like Ramsey’s kitchen here if things go wrong?
Hi Jill, Yeah it does sound like I have had many jobs, but not really…..I just like to know about many things and varied too. Keep well
fredblog51on 23 Feb 2009 at 10:02 am 8Roy, thanks for the info, I was talking to Sarah (my wife) about blanching the veg, but I will give it ago currently my shoulder won’t take the strain of digging.
Mirlnlass, Yes we have a fan assisted oven which I like cos it cooks clean, but having a fan you would think it cooks evenly not the case here it seems to cook hotter at the bottom shelf than the conventional way heat rises?
Sarah cook’s the bread, with her little bread maker lol.
mjcon 23 Feb 2009 at 11:54 am 9Going back to the “frozen” shoulder, Fred: if it is a severe rotator cuff problem, with movement being limited by scar tissue (from injury), the answer may well require micro surgery to cut up/ground up the scar tissue. There are limits to what physical therapy can do, and when it can do it best. It was done on an outpatient basis. No big deal, provided you get the right specialist. Take care, Fred. There is no reason why you should live and suffer with a frozen shoulder. Given that you do physical work, it is imperative that you take care of it/have it taken care of.
mjcon 23 Feb 2009 at 11:56 am 10“it was done on an outpatient basis”. Garbled. I had a bad rotator cuff problem once and the surgery was done on an outpatient basis.
the Lovely Outlanderon 23 Feb 2009 at 1:55 pm 11Hope the shoulder is feeling better and that more work comes your way soon! Sounds like you are a wonder in the kitchen!
Flying Cat 2on 23 Feb 2009 at 3:02 pm 12A chicken cake sounds like just my kind of thing.
M’n'Marmers send *furryhugs* for a warmed-up and repaired shoulder Fred.
Things will look up soon. We’re on to our third house-viewer in 7 days after four months of zilch!
mjcon 23 Feb 2009 at 4:17 pm 13Keep that oven going. Fresh cookie smell, and samples on the kitchen counter. Good luck. [did you hid the loot from SD in the shed? You would not want would be buyers to trip and get concussed ...].
Flying Cat 2on 24 Feb 2009 at 10:55 am 14I tried leaving samples on the kitchen counter once…it wasn’t popular
Barneyon 24 Feb 2009 at 2:47 pm 15Best wishes for a thaw in the shoulder area, Fred. Come the Spring the thoughts of houseowners turn to reneweal, re-building, all sorts of fancy things. What is chessy cole slaw? Sounds good!
Flying Cat 2on 24 Feb 2009 at 3:15 pm 16Its the sort you get to keep your brain active during a chess tournament, obviously
Just as well Fred is a nice tolerant man, or he might delete a cheesy comment…
Fred Blogson 25 Feb 2009 at 8:11 pm 17Gee thanks L.O and F.C re the shoulder, Oh Barney!!! Cheesy Coleslaw even
Silly me, I must have a better discipline to wear my glasses when typing.
Barneyon 25 Feb 2009 at 8:42 pm 18Well Fred, i wear my glasses and it doesnt help much but the misspellings may casue one or two lips to curl slightly … in disdain or mirth, I know not which.
Flying Cat 2on 26 Feb 2009 at 11:46 am 19You know not which myfanwy!
