A look at our life on the Isle of Lewis

Long awaited Update!

Posted by fredblog51 on Thursday, May 21st, 2009

Hi Everybody……..apologies in the delay firstly lost my log in password for here so frustrating.

OK here we go……..The frozen shoulder is still not working since January even though Physio has got it more mobile, So I now await the Orthopedic appointment to take things further.

As to the business, I have had no work for 6 months, plus the problem with the should means that I have now folded my business, Due to petrol prices and material cost being to high I made very little money.

On a good note, I have just got myself a little Part time job at City link in the Ferry Terminal, so if anyone wants to come down for a chat…..you know where I am!

The Orpington chickens gave us a little brood of 6 new chicks, the East Indian Ducks layed 17 Eggs and only produced 2 Ducklings, alas one died so My little Holly was devistaed, so we are hand rearing the last one as the ducks just leave the little one alone

Oh and we lost Peking the female Duck, she was attacked by a Neigbours 2 DOGS, not that he will say anything about It!….But he was seen by someone else.

Not much else has changed the family are well, Chris (Our Son) is studying for his exams, Holly is as busy as ever…..and Sarah is putting up with me

Bye for now

Posted by fredblog51 on Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

Hi…dont get to excited this is not a recipe, just thought I would show you one of our new Orpington’s settling in?  The cheeky thing ripped out the fern to make a bath on one of those nice sunny days last week.

As for the East Indian’s (Ducks) Sir Quack has been doing the business with Peiking, and Crispy so currently we have 17 eggs in the nest……Holly of coarse would like to keep all the duckling, but I said she can keep 3

Scam Alert!

Posted by fredblog51 on Friday, March 13th, 2009

Hi everyone.

I was sitting at my desk yesterday when the phone rang and a young lady ask for me in person, to replying yes it is me she said Hi its ********** from Children abuse charity.

Asking her what was her reason for the call she replied the books you have ordered for your local school are ready! So I said sorry I dont understand…………..I have not ordered any books or mentioned any donation to a charity, the conversation got heated then she said we rang you on Sept 08 at 10:15 when you committed to an order and you live at (My current address mentioned), I replied …I DONT THINK SO.

Carring on the conversation she said I have a recording of your telepnone conversation, which I’m going to send to you including the 40 books and a invoice for £2489 pounds!!!!!!!! SEE YOU IN COURT.

You can imaging how I felt I was raging, when phoning 1471 the number was witheld, but everyone out there becareful…….because I did receive a call in December about a charity to advertise local business in lewis at a donation figure of £100……on this conversation I said to the chap, if you send me some information, artwork, charity reg number I will look into it.

Becareful out there!

Not much of an Up date !!

Posted by fredblog51 on Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

Hi Everyone……just keeping in touch.

Well nothing has changed since mid December no work in at present it has gone very quite indeed, even to the point I phoned Yell about my 1st years advertisment placed   complaining about the aborted money I have spent with no recommendation from them……..then funny enough I get 2 calls from Birmingham enquiring about do i do work on the Isle of Lewis!!!! which led nowhere.

Plus, I am now under the Physiotheropy at the hospital, as I heard my shoulder make a sharp snapping noise as the drill kicked back and twisted my arm in December, so after the X-Rays and some weeks of physio they think I have a frozen shoulder (whatever that is) all I can tell you its very painful even with the pain killers taken.

So all in all we are doing great LOL, thank goodness Sarah is busy with her Card business which is keeping us afloat, and she quite likes the idea of her new House Husband, and new baked cakes being produced nearly daily as the chickens are laying again. It must be bad as its my Birthday in March 52 this year, and I have asked for a new Mixer, chopper, blender thingy.

Cooking is not new to me as I used to own a Restaurant in 1984, so its quite nice getting back to cooking once again.

Hope you are all well………..Fred

That was a wild one!!!

Posted by fredblog51 on Sunday, January 18th, 2009

Hi Everyone……hope you all got through Saturday night OK, it was a wild one! without any damage to you or your properties. As you know we lost the poly tunnel the other week, now the frames are completely twisted even though it had no cover on.

The Ducks loved just sitting in the pond,  while Chris (my son) and I checked everything at 11:30pm but I had to hang on to him lol otherwise he would have blown away it was very gusty indeed. I was watching various weather stations and the worst point was 105 mph……even though some were showing 115 not sure if these things are really accurate. If you can better that let me know.

We are all fine, except the polytunnel is now  in peices due to high winds just ripped it out the ground….So I will let January pass then re think it though maybe netting this time.

Oh I also wanted to say to Francis, I have seen your BI post, I think its terrible that you had to go through a very bad experiance with contractors well (SO CALLED LANDSCAPERS!!!!) and hope you can get it rectified quickly………..me personnally would have taken them to court!

Still have not got round to loading photo’s on but will try a little later, hope you are all well……OH and I will make sure TWS put a picture on of his NEW Bathroom.
